0000964: Crash (?) when loading/manipulating resampled DTI file

Description

Linux 64-bit version crashes soon after loading a resampled DTI NRRD file.

reproduce:
1. Add Data Data from:
http://na-mic.org/Wiki/index.php/Projects:RegistrationLibrary:RegLib_C29#Download [^]
-> culprit seems DTI_BSpl2.nrrd DTI.nrrd and DWI.nrrd
either one of those 3 files will ev. bring Slicer down.

crash e.g. when trying to change display of DTI_BSpl2 to "Color Orientation"
or when trying to save modified scene file:

1. Set Display of DTI.nrrd file to "Color Orientation"
2. Set foreground to T2, foreground to DTI, select "fill view"
3. Select Save... and try to save scene file only.

My version (Slicer3-3.6.1-2010-09-07-linux-x86_64, run on opel) crashes, i.e. remote job disappears from display. The Slicer process is still running but no longer accessible.

(0001967) DMeier (reporter) 2010-09-10 17:13 edited on: 2010-09-14 10:16	Most reliable crash is upon Saving a Scene file containing a DTI, with DTI created via Diffusion / Utilities /Diffusion Tensor Estimation Module. E.g load DWI volume from link above, run the Diffusion Tensor Estimation Module and try to save the Scene. ALSO with another smaller set: crash upon loading (Add Data) or soon after of DTI.nrrd file. Initially suspected memory issues, as DTI is ~1GB, but observed same behavior for much smaller subsampled versions. Do not recall having these crashes with versions before 3.6.1 example DTI.nrrd file here: http://na-mic.org/Wiki/images/c/c3/RegLib_03_DTIExample_full.zip [^] (look for RegLib_C03_DWI_DTI_Estimation.nrrd)
