Discussion
- Dan Marcus first gave a powerpoint presentation about XNAT including the architecture, the data workload, the web service, XNAT desktop, XNAT appliance and he also talked about the release of the version 1.4, scheduled for early January.
- Dan then gave a live demo of XNAT capabilities using the Central Neuroimaging Data Archive from Wash U.
- Comments:
- It makes sense for XNAT to support the Annotation and Image Markup (AIM) Project [1]
- For our project, the data must come from the pACS, not the scanners. A module in XNAT to pull data from the PACS is being developed, the main problems are the deindentification process and the fact that the clinical workflow can not be disturbed.
- The CTSA at Emery is interested in setting something similar, they are using the caBIG tools.
- We need to have a couple of scientific projects to implement. Shawn mentioned that it will be important to evaluate the specific resources for these projects because we can not use the general resources.
Action items
- Katie agreed to give a demonstration of the webportal the radiologists used at BWH.
Next meeting
- The next meeting will be focused on the DICOM query/retrieve tool
