Objective

  • Hands-on session to learn how to use Slicer + Plus platform in IGT research

Logistics

Organizers (TBD)

  • Queen's University
    • Andras Lasso
    • Tamas Ungi
    • Csaba Pinter
    • Gabor Fichtinger
  • BWH
    • Junichi Tokuda
    • Nobuhiko Hata
    • Sonia Pujol
    • Ron Kikinis
  • MGH
    • Gregory Sharp

Date (TBD)

  • September 14-18, 2014
  • full-day or half-day?
      • Full-day would be good for those who have already decided to use Slicer+Plus as their research platform
      • Full-day might not be so attractive for those who just want to see what Slicer and Plus can do.

Place (TBD)

  • BWH might be easier to invite clinicians to the tutorial

Tutorial

Target Audience

  • Researchers
  • Engineers
  • Clinicians

Target Applications

  • Central line insertion
  • Regional nerve block
  • Drainage of difficult anatomical places
  • prostate biopsy
  • etc

Data sources

  • Scanners, trackers
    • Setup one or a few tracking system and broadcast
    • Ultrasound scanner, if possible
  • It's also important to demonstrate how easy to switch between simulator and trackers

Slicer IGT library?

Ron suggested to make something like http://wiki.slicer.org/slicerWiki/index.php/Documentation/4.3/Registration/RegistrationLibrary

Application Organ Preop Image Intraop Image Tracking device Device-to-image calibration Image-to-Image registration Visualization
Transrectal US-guided Prostate Biopsy Prostate N/A TRUS Transrectal needle guide N/A N/A Real-time image
MR-guided Prostate Biopsy (transperineal) Prostate MRI MRI Template Fiducial-based B-spline intensity based Reslice by user
CT-guided Liver Tumor Ablation Liver MRI CT Optical Reference marker on the scanner B-spline intensity based Reslice by tracker
