Objective
We are reworking icons for Slicer3 to make them appropriate for Qt in Slicer4. Want to keep the same representation, just put on transparent background and make use of Qt's ability to scale icons for different sized displays. We'll use the opportunity to make consistent visual representations for underlying concepts, so users can translate knowledge across Slicer GUIs.
Approach, Plan
First we'll discuss needs for any new icons which don't already exist in Slicer's vtkSlicerFoundationIcons class. Wendy will gather recommendations from Julien and JC, based on their work so far, for modifying existing icons. Then, our approach will be to redraw icons in actual res and in high-res on transparant background for Qt. Consolidate visual images and ensure that the icons are available to all developers to promote consistent use across modules.
Progress
- Discussed needs for new icons and prioritized;
- Discussed treatment tweaks for existing icons;
- Will work on generating these over next two months.
Delivery Mechanism
This work will be delivered to the NA-MIC Kit as:
- ITK Module
- Slicer Module
- Built-in
- Extension -- commandline
- Extension -- loadable
- Other (GUI infrastructure)
