Introduction

A postdoctoral research fellow position is available at Surgical Navigation and Robotics Laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital. We are seeking highly motivated, self-starter with ability to work with clinicians, other scientists and engineers cooperatively.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop innovative image-guided therapy systems
  2. Identify problems in the current clinical practice with clinical collaborators
  3. Propose solutions to the clinical collaborators and discuss
  4. Preclinical feasibility evaluation
  5. Actively participate the laboratory meetings and seminars.
  6. Preclinical evaluation and clinical evaluation
  7. Dissemination including software packaging, documentation and teaching
  8. Report to the PI
  9. Publication

Skills and Specifications

  1. Business-level English communication skill
  2. Excellent technical, analytical problem-solving skill
  3. Software development skills and experiences including
  4. Software development experience in C++ and one additional scripting language (e.g. Python) on UNIX or Windows
  5. Skill to debug a program using debugger tools (GDB or Microsoft Visual Studio)
  6. Experience of software development using toolkit libraries e.g. VTK, ITK, Qt
  7. Linux system administration experience is preferable
  8. Knowledge of socket and pthread
  9. Basics of linear algebra
  10. Basics of image processing
  11. Basics of medical imaging (basic principle of CT/MRI/Ultrasound)

  1. Doctoral degree in either Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or Electric Engineering

Duration

* One year. Subject to renewal based on annual review. * Start day (by taking into account US visa petition process) is part of consideration in selecting candidates due to obligatory time requirement to the agencies funding the position.
