Mission

The PET Core Laboratory provides a full range of technical and professional services for the design and execution of programs using Positron Emission Tomography (PET). It provides the required facilities and personnel on a per study basis to allow investigators to use PET without requiring them to acquire the needed special expertise and equipment. The services of the PET Laboratory are available to all users within the Partners system and to outside users as well. Research services are accessed through contact with the professional staff leading to formalization of a research plan and subsequent review by the Scientific Management Committee. Clinical services are accessed by direct arrangement with the medical staff of the radiology department.

Facilities and Equipment

  • Location of Core

The Cyclotron/Radiochemistry component of the PET Core is located in the basement of the Edwards Building. The PET Research Imaging Laboratories consist of imaging cameras for human and large-animals imaging on White II and a small animal imaging camera located at the Shriner's Burns Institute and a dedicated DSI Ceraspect brain scanner located at the Charlestown Navy Yard.
