Project Description
Objective
- The goal of this project is to work on redesigning Slicer DICOM Module interface in order to increase the quality of user experience and to facilitate the most likely usage workflows.
Approach, Plan
- Considerations:
- UI
- Efficient use of widget space.
- Hide advanced options for general users (e.g Plugins and DICOM Data files).
- For filtering replacing checkboxes with combobox to save space.
- Organize to facilitate the most likely workflows
- Considering minimum mouse travel for routine tasks.
- One UI for searching both local and remote databases.
- Icons with tooltips instead of push buttons.
- Local database:
- Database maintenance tool.
- Add new dialog boxes
- Copy/link options for import action.
- Remove from local database confirmation.
- Remote server:
- Add a verification (C-Echo ) tool.

Progress
- We collected feedback on design and usability issues that are present with current Slicer DICOM Module.
- We finalized the new DICOM module interface UI with focus on integration of both local and remote data sources.
- The next step would be to redesign the DICOM module class by reusing the current ctk classes.
