Fusion of LGE scar data with EP data

Key Investigators

  • Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center: Dana C. Peters, Felix Liu

Objective

Our goal is to process 3D late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) MR images of the left ventricular myocardium, and to segment scar, and display it in 3D. The scar can be represented as scar transmurality, or using other metrics. We wish to represent the MR scar images in 3D to compare with voltage maps of the myocardium obtained using invasive voltage mapping, by fusing the voltage maps with the scar images. This will lead to interpretation of the relationship between EP findings and scar. This technique can be applied to other areas of study, such as atrial fibrillation.

Approach, Plan

Our approach includes segmentation of the scar, representation, registration with voltage maps, and quantitative evaluation. We will use 3D Slicer, and matlab. A main concern is how to represent/fuse the voltage data, since the voltage data set is a sparse point cloud.

Progress

We are able to display the scar and a representation of the scar in 3D Slicer.
