Agenda: Schedule of activities for the next six months Setting up working groups -- DTI, shape, fMRI Plans for coordination between each site and Core 3.

Attendees: Eric Grimson, Guido Gerig, Martin Styner, Dave Tuch, Tom Fletcher, Allen Tannenbaum, Ross Whitaker, Tina Kapur

Highlights:

  • Dave Tuch provided motivation for requirements/process in Algorithm:Future_Plans.
  • Need to solidify requirements (both from core 3 about clinical requirements, and from core 1 about research directions)
  • Three work-group leads have been identified: Martin Styner (Shape), Polina Golland (fMRI), Dave Tuch (DTI).
  • On-going projects at the different sites:
    • MIT: Andy Saykin to visit MIT on APril 22nd to talk about DTI tools for his work. Contiuing to work on segmentation tools for shape analysis.
    • UNC: Working to process Harvard and Dartmouth data through DTI analysis pipeline. July meeting scheduled with Georgia Tech group. Shape analysis study on caudate in progress with Jim Levitt's data from BWH.
    • Utah: met with Martha Shenton's group at BWH for DTI processing. Continuing to work on curved geometry idea for DTI processing -- need to figure out whether the theoretical advantages translate to better discrimination for schizophrenia. In process of running group test between schizophrenic and control brains to see if curved stats give better results.
    • Georgia Tech: Working on shape analysis for caudate data with Martha Shenton. Eric Pichon at BWH next week. Two students to visit UCI to discuss the heuristics used for segmentation by neuroanatomists there. Planning to contribute two modules to ITK (fastmarching, and x filter).
    • MGH: working on tensor-based group comparison of schizophrenia subtypes
