Basis functions and responsibilities

Develop software tools for surgical robot Design, test, and build surgical robots Document the detail of the robot Technically assist in academic researchers Interface external collaborators and assist in their application using the developed tools and software

  7. Qualifications, and

Candidate must have a minimum of a BS degree in Engineering or Physics, with at least 5 years proven experience

with developing and/or modifying robot, preferably in the academic research setting.

Strong skill in C++ programming is needed. Experience in developing PC-based robot control system is a strong plus.

Knowledge of any of the following is a plus: motion controllers, coordinate transformation, programmable logic controllers (PLC), laser systems, and machine vision technology. Experience using existing ActiveX components with managed code (Interop) is desired as is experience with ATL COM Servers, UML, and Pattern Oriented software design.



Desired Qualifications . Be able to "jump in" quickly with innovative solutions to research need. . Documented experience with 2D and 3D computer vision: image registration, segmentation, reconstruction, difference, multi-scale skeletal/medial axis analysis, feature extraction. . 3D tomography: general (regular) and irregular solutions. . 3D volume rendering. . Practical experience with large datasets (up to TBs), networked computing platforms, software project development and coding. . Low-level VLSI CAD tool format conversions (GDSII/OASIS), and introductory VLSI design. . Doctorate in related field preferred, appropriate experience considered as substitute. . Ability to secure a US government security clearance. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. . (Secondary) Familiarity with digital signal processing; including information/coding theory with application to modulation schemes such as spread spectrum, PSK, etc. over noisy channels.
