Robotics programmer and engineer

  • Name of employing Hospital and Department:

Surgical Navigation and Robotics Laboratory in the Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital

  • Minimum degree and field of specialized knowledge required to perform the job:

Candidate must have a minimum of a BS degree in Engineering or Physics.

  • Minimum years of experience required in the field:

At least 3 years proven experience with developing and/or modifying robot, preferably in the academic and industrial research setting.

  • Characteristic duties and responsibilities
    • Design, test, and build surgical robots
    • Develop control software for surgical robot
    • Document the detail of the robot
    • Technically assist in academic researchers for robotics research
    • Interface external collaborators and assist in their application using the developed tools and software
  • Licenses or special skills necessary to perform the job:
    • Strong skill in C++ programming is needed.
    • Experience in developing PC-based motion controllers system is needed.
    • Knowledge of any of the following is a plus: MATLAB, SimuLink, motion controllers, coordinate transformation, programmable logic controllers (PLC), network programming, linux administration, and machine vision technology.
