Dr. Liqun Wang is Global Head of Imaging at Novartis Pharma AG. Dr. Wang is establishing the clinical imaging unit at Novartis with the objective of leveraging imaging technology to enhance and accelerate drug development. Prior to her appointment with Novartis, Liqun was the Global Head of Clinical MRI in the Translational Medicine and Technology department at GlaxoSmithKline.

Dr. Wang majored in Biomedical Engineering and obtained her PhD in Medical Imaging in the United Kingdom. Dr. Wang also holds a Sloan Fellowship Master degree in Management from London Business School. Her early academic research at the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London focused on clinical MRI of multiple sclerosis. Her experience in Queen Square in imaging applications to disease management and therapeutic evaluations, particularly with beta-interferon phase III trials, gave her the inspiration to join GlaxoWellcome in 1996. At GlaxoWellcome she held roles of increasing responsibility, from scientific imaging project management to becoming a critical member of a committee charged to form imaging strategy for the company.
