In order to utilize the SRB commands in your local environment check to see if there are any located locally.

MGH

  • At MGH the commands are in /usr/pubsw/bin

Example:

which Sinit

  • /usr/pubsw/bin/Sinit

Sinit -v

  • Using Port 5825.
  • Client Release = SRB-3.2.0, API version = F.
  • Server Release = SRB-3.2.0, API version = F.
  • Client mcatZone = birnzone
  • Server mcatZone = birnzone

Overall notes:

  • Use Shelp to find the commands.
  • Use 'man Shelp' to learn the help command and to find out other commands manual pages. Ex: 'man Sinit'

MGH setup of the .srb environment

To access the SRB domain from the command line follow the www.nbirn.net suggestions once logged in at

  • DataGrid [1]

and

  • Click on SRB settings at [2]

"NOTE: Create a directory .srb and the .MdasEnv file as they recommend.

The .MdasAuth file only needs your password and nothing else. It does not follow the same format at the .MdasEnv file."

Initiating a session

Like telnet, ftp, http, etc the session must be initiated and closed when finished

*Sinit will open the connection
 *Sexit will close the connection
