A variety of 3D-Slicer related projects were funded as administrative supplements through the federal stimulus package aka ARRA. These supplements are associated with NAC and NA-MIC. The projects will add capabilities to the 3D Slicer software to enable and enhance its usability as a powerful tool for imaging related translational clinical research. We will work closely with the Harvard Catalyst to ensure relevance for the target audience of clinician scientists.

The project is organized into five work packages:

  • Migration of the Slicer UI to Qt, improving Slicer usability, productivity and performance
  • Annotation and mark-up capabilities and support for evolving standards
  • The development of practical guidelines for clinical researchers on how to use advanced registration tools
  • A new generation of the EM segmenter which can be adjusted to a particular data set by a clinical researcher
  • An open source workflow engine will be ported into our environment

NA-MIC

  • In order to keep up with the increased rate of development, we will increase QA engineering.
