- Education program
- Vignettes about the use of of imaging in CTSA-related projects
Harvard Translational Imaging Consortium Meeting Minutes February 2, 2010
In attendance:
- Valerie Humblet
- Annick Van den Abbeele
- Randy Gollub
- Bob Lenkinski
- Clare Tempany
- Ron Kikinis
- Simon Warfield
- Gordon Williams
- Charles Guttmann
1. Consultations
- Imaging 119: CEST contrast agents: Bob will work with the PI on this consultation.
- Imaging 116: Randy met with the PI who is preparing a K award.
2. Education program
- Randy received a request from MGH CRP to teach an imaging basics class for Clinical Research Coordinators/Research Nurses. The CRC/RN have described the goal of the imaging basics course as: to demystify imaging for (non-clinically trained) clinical research coordinators so that (a) they might understand it better and (b) they, in turn, can explain imaging better to their research subjects.
- Annick mentioned that there is already a nice portfolio that was created under the DFHCC umbrella, these sessions were very well attended.
- Valerie will get in touch with Liz Salomon at MGH and the with the CRP team at BWH so we can also offer the modules on the Longwood campus.
- Valerie and Jeff will give those talks.
- So far we did not reach very well the investigators on the Harvard Campus, MIT (except for the HST course) and Mac Lean Hospital.
- At MIT, Randy suggested to get on the neuroimaging seminar series. Jeff could give a talk about quantitative biomarkers.
- At MacLean, Clare suggested to ask Emily Stern if she is interested in giving a talk over there.
- For our half-day modules:
- Valerie will reschedule the June 3rd one (oncologic imaging)
- Greg Sorensen agreed to give a talk on quantitative neuroimaging biomarkers. Valerie will follow-up with him to check his availability.
- Jeff has been working on the oncologic imaging program and will soon update the wiki.
- The material for the courses will be stored on the Xythos website, Valerie is also looking for some program management tools.
3. Vignettes about the use of of imaging in CTSA-related projects
- Randy forwarded the following request from Susan Anderson (RSNA): In a December 2009 meeting of the CTSA Imaging Working Group, Dr Sheeley of NCRR suggested that specific stories/vignettes about the use and value of imaging in CTSA-related projects could be used to publicize imaging’s actual and potential contributions. These vignettes might be used in a variety of venues ranging from NCRR newsletter stories to congressional reports. As examples, Dr Sheeley mentioned possibilities such as imaging contributions which resulted in faster clinical trials or facilitated important research. These stories might relate to imaging methods, devices or contrast agents themselves, or to services provided by imaging cores.
- Simon and Bob both agreed to write a vignette (TSC and ASL)
- Randy will ask Greg Sorensen to write one regarding brain cancer imaging work that he is involved with to show how the NCRR funds to the former GCRC and current Catalyst are supporting important clinical translational work.
