1. Introduction of Ivan Pedrosa

• Bob introduced Ivan Pedrosa, MD PhD, Assistant Professor of Radiology at BIDMC who will replaced Neil Rofsky (who left to be the Chairman of Radiology at UT Southwestern). Ivan is an abdominal imager, he is involved in several clinical trials (mainly MRI) and has done a lot of research on new MRI techniques.
• Randy introduced Doug Greve, PhD, Instructor in radiology, MGH. he is a new consultant for our program, his expertise is in image analysis.

2. Consultations

• We had a couple of new consultations this week, all requested a specific consultant.

3. Rountable on clinical and applications of imaging

• The Research Navigators have started a series of roundtables that are designed to bring investigators with disparate research interests together around a C/T topic. The topics are intended to highlight some of the resources available for biomedical researchers throughout Harvard. Sometime this Fall, they would like to host a discussion about an area of biomedical imaging.
  • Valerie will follow up with Ann to learn more about that event (audience, how is it different from our education series etc).

4. Pilot grant: planning follow-up with PI's who were not funded

• Pilot grant round 3: Out of the 316 full proposals received, 73 had an imaging component. A total of 63 grants were funded, 13 had an imaging component.
• We will work with the research navigators to get a full list of applicants for the projects not funded. We will then reach out to PI who did not have a imaging person in the proposal and offer our help to work on a more competitive proposal.

5. Education

• Jeff will lead the oncology session, Charles the neuroimaging one and Todd the cardiovascular one. In 2 weeks (August 17), the leaders should have the list of speakers ready.
• RSNA:
  • A practice talk of the didactic session will be give mid-November. Valerie is waiting confirmation from room services.
  • Wendy and the Slicer team are working on a DCE-MRI tutorial.
  • Valerie will book the electronic room at Countway for the 1st week of November to do a test of the new Slicer modules. She will also book the room for a training session the 1st week of November.
  • Jeff has been working on putting together an evening oncology session with 2 1-hour lectures on radiation risks of medical imaging and a variation of the imaging biomarkers in oncology. We have a credit for

technologist credits that we are going to use. We submitted it quite a while ago but they question the radiation protection credits and wanted the full lecture for review so I have been focusing it more on rad protection. He is still working out the details but Iis trying to get funding for food and will probably book a 90-seat room that might be half-filled with DFCI people and could be opened up to the other hospitals through Catalyst.
