Harvard Translational Imaging Consortium Meeting Minutes April 6, 2010

1. Consultations
- There were no new consultation this week.
- During a meeting about the JIRA system with the IT group, Valerie asked them to evaluate if it would be possible to link request for PCIR protocol review with the creation of a new issue in JIRA.
2. Education program
- The neuroimaging session at MGH on April 1st had a good attendance, roughly 47 people, out of 60 who registered. Valerie sent a reminder to participants the day before. She will do the same for the upcoming sessions.
- Charles asked if we should have lectures that are more interactive, where the speaker asks questions to the audience.
- To be added to the website: a note saying that if all seats are filled, people should contact Valerie to inquire about additional seats and/or waiting list.
- The series has been accepted for CME credit. We will be able to offer it for the oncology session on May 21st. In the eman time we have to collect conflict of interest from all speakers. We also will have to get an evaluation form and a sign in list.
- New hands-on workshops: Bruce Fischl offered to host and run workshops on Freesurfer.
3. Multicenter trial
- Bob will get a smaller group together to set up goal and agenda for the multicenter trial project.
- The group will identify similar protocols already in place: pediatric MS (same neuro protocol implemented at CHB, BIDMC and MGH).
- The goal of the project is to create a template for multicenter trial that can be applicable to any modality or disease.
- Jeff suggested to identify some of the existing protocols and help them with the standardization.
- The project can be done even without additional funding as a pseudo-trial with phantoms.
- Randy inquired the mi2b2 group whether they could help serve this project. Their question was: will the acquisitions be on clinical or research systems, will it generate an accession number?
4. mi2b2 update
- Yong built a new version of XNAT 1.4 for MGH.
- Chris Henrick has been hired as the lead programmer. With Steve Piper they already built a lot of software tools (similar to i2b2).
- The PACS administrators are on board for the weekly meetings, helping to plan the deployment at each site.
- At the end of April there will be a policy meeting with the different Radiology departments.Dan Marcus will be there to answer technical questions about XNAT and Sabune Winkler will be there to give a regulatory input.
- The group is working on identifying projects that can be used to show the utility of mi2b2.
